Shock of shocks! Horror of horrors!
For the first time since Clay Aiken/Ruben Studdard, the Idol runner-up’s first single has outsold the Idol winner’s. This is particularly shocking since David Archuleta’s song, “Crush,” pretty much blows.
I really don’t know what to say.

Too bad for you that the shock will keep coming.
It is too hard to just say, ” Well done”? You’re well within your wheelhouse to like or dislike anything you wish, but it is undeniable to the music public that David has delivered an amazing first single. David’s superior vocals soar and are identifiable throughout, it has a relatable and a catchy beat.. Sue me-> I watched lotsa American Bandstand back in the day :)
His fans like me find themselves humming along unconsciously, and the verses transport the listener back to those bygone days of school girl and schoolboy CRUSHES… It has an appeal across a very broad spectrum of listeners, and should effectively silence the detractors and critics who didn’t believe he had mainstream appeal. CRUSH is the catapult for David to continue his growth and evolution as an artist – I ANTICIPATE MANY MANY YEARS OF OUTSTANDING MUSIC FROM HIM. TAKE A BOW DAVID… YOU’VE ARRIVED.
Yes, Central80, that’s almost exactly what you commented when you posted here: http://unterekless.com/2008/08/01/things-that-arent-very-good-david-archuletas-new-single/
I think it’s great for David Archuleta that he’s doing well. But I hate his song and I like David Cook, as an artist, more.
Miss karen , if you don’t like crush , don’t listen to it!!!! and I don,t care if his a mormon he is a person with respect and moral. This kid will be bless and will succeed in life… if you have nothing to do and you’re bored, talked about your AI Cook, who can’t even sing our National Anthem, it is so embarrassing and shameful…. and by the way GET A LIFE!!!!!
#3 – you’re right! I keep that post for forwarding when encountering the same old, same old tired comments and “shortcuts to thinking” when I want to express my views regarding David. I applaud you (clap clap clap) and anyone else who has differing opinions, and are able to articulate them logically, rationally and constructively…. you see, David Cook doesn’t have the lock on fans who are”word nerds” – and aren’t afraid to use ‘em! God Bless! :)
I agree. I like his rendition of Angels, though. I think he just did Crush to make his people happy…
Awesome detailed post. Bookmarked for future reference.
