A military show in south-eastern France has left 17 people wounded, after real bullets were used instead of blanks.
And all I could think about was my junior year abroad when I lived two blocks from the Ecole Militaire. One day I noticed that it was odd that I only saw the French military in uniform over lunch — never coming and going from the building. My host mother explained that members of the French army didn’t like to wear their uniforms to and from work because they got beaten up.
